SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va.; Sept. 19, 2022 – AVN Corp. (AVN) today announced that Parvez H. Wadia, D.Sc., vice president, strategic initiatives, has received the national Earle B. Barnes Award for Leadership in Chemical Research Management from the American Chemical Society (ACS). Only one individual is recognized with this award each year, and ACS selected Dr. Wadia based on his demonstration of outstanding leadership and creativity through the promotion of chemistry and chemical engineering in research management. He will be honored among his peers at a national ceremony on March 28, 2023.

Acknowledgement and appreciation of such high accomplishments by the recipient’s peers is necessary to be considered for the award.

“Dr. Wadia epitomizes leadership in the chemical research industry, and we are proud to call him a leader, colleague and friend,” said Steven B. Hedrick, AVN Chairman & CEO. “His accomplishments are vast, and receiving a prestigious, peer-nominated award is an incredible honor for him and a testament to the significance of his contributions during a lifetime of leadership in our industry.”

Over a nearly five-decade career with Union Carbide, Dow Chemical and AVN, Dr. Wadia held a variety of technical and senior executive techno-economic-chemical-design-technology-improvement positions in Business and Corporate R&D, Technology Licensing and Engineering.

During his tenure at AVN, Dr. Wadia has been instrumental in leading the scientists and engineers to deliver excellence and innovations to its customers around the world. Dr. Wadia, ever the humble professional, has taken greater pride in the accomplishments of his teams than anything he has ever contributed himself.

Previous industry and academia honors for Dr. Wadia are too numerous to count. His election to the Sigma Xi Society for Science and Engineering Excellence at Massachusetts Institute for Technology (MIT) and a gold medal for Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology are but two of many acknowledgements of his exceptional capability and achievement.

Dr. Wadia received a B. Tech., Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, an M.S., Chemical Engineering from MIT, an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at the MIT, and a D.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from MIT.

As a recipient of this award, Dr. Wadia represents AVN’s entire staff and their dedication to excellence in chemical product research, product development, process improvement, process safety, engineering, and manufacturing. From its inception in 2003, AVN has striven to delight customers around the world under the example set by Dr. Wadia, AVN’s second employee and part of the company’s very creation.
