Last week, June 4-6, the AIChE Process Development Symposium was held at the West Virginia Regional Technology Park, sponsored by AVN Corporation. The PDS is a national symposium put on by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) with the help of its Process Development Division.
The symposium was attended by 77 members of the process development community including AIChE representatives and PDS sponsors. 21 states were represented at the PDS as well as Canada, France, Great Britian, and Sweden.
The PDS lasted 2-1/2 days and included technical and program management presentations in the chemical process development field and included a tour of AVN’s laboratory and pilot plant facilities as part of the core agenda. This was an excellent opportunity to show off AVN’s capabilities to a broad group of individuals from different fields and geographies within the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. AVN was also represented by 4 employees who attended and were engaged in various aspects of the symposium.
In addition to the technical program, the PDS offered opportunities to network with other attendees. Events included a dinner at the J.Q. Dickenson Salt Works, a post-tour reception, and breaks, breakfasts, and lunches.
