A customer operating a distillation was encountering the build-up of solid material in the column and heat exchanger, which required periodic maintenance and reduced the capacity of the column. AVN assembled a multifunctional team to collaborate with the customer on the problem, including expertise in organic chemistry, process engineering, and chemical analysis. The team examined multiple sources of data, including the historical performance of the process and results of previous studies of the problem. Potential solutions were identified and the problem was successfully resolved.
