A new process currently in development incorporates a reactive distillation concept aimed at dramatically enhancing both operability and cost-effectiveness. To validate the underlying assumptions, a demonstration was essential. AVN initiated laboratory experiments to collect preliminary data and used advanced process simulation tools to fine-tune the distillation column design, optimizing it for the target reaction conditions. A custom column was engineered and constructed at pilot plant scale. Early tests confirmed successful operation, and further performance assessments are now underway.
