Dr. Eric D. King is a Research Supervisor, responsible for managing the analytical group resources and organic chemist. He joined AVN in 2011. Prior to his current role, Dr. King was a chemist, research chemist, and principal chemist and was in charge of dryboxes, GC-MS, vacuum pumps, and various other laboratory equipment. He holds one patent, Photomodulated Chiral Induction in Helical Azobenzene Oligomers.

Dr. King has been a Kanawha Scholar, a West Virginia University Leadership Scholar, a Moore Scholar, a John H. Stohl Scholar, a 2020 and 2021 Ohio-State ASC Match Mentor, a 2019 Ohio-State University STEM Scholar’s Academy Advisor, a part of the American Chemical Society Science Coaches Program, a WV First2 Network Contributor, a ACS Project SEED Mentor, a WV SPOT (Science Public Outreach Team) Steering Committee Team Member, a Volunteer Judge for STaR Symposium WVSU 2012, and a part of the West Virginia State University Outside Committee on Curriculum. Dr. King has a bachelor of science and ACS Certified Chemistry degree from West Virginia University and a Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry as well as post-doctoral experience from the Ohio State University.
