THE AVN BLOG: Catalyst Testing

AVN designed and built a catalyst testing unit featuring a 2 cm x 0.75 m tubular reactor heated by an electric furnace capable of exceeding 600 °C, with an approximate catalyst volume of 30 cc. The system was configured to deliver controlled feeds of up to five gases and liquids. Reactor effluent samples were collected in gas sampling bags and analyzed by gas chromatography. A series of experiments was conducted across a range of operating conditions, with the reactor cycled through multiple reaction and regeneration steps at each condition, separated by purge stages. Material balances exceeding 95% were consistently achieved, and the resulting data were delivered to the client.
