A customer was interested in the properties of a family of co-polymers produced from ethylene and a selection of functionalized co-monomers. AVN set up a small 300 mL reactor to perform the polymerization under high ethylene pressure and prepared several small samples to prove the concept and evaluate the effects of reaction conditions. The process was then scaled up to a one-gallon reactor and larger quantities of the novel co-polymers were produced.
