Scope

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician will join our pilot plant facility team. The successful candidate will ensure the proper functioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation systems critical to our research and development activities. This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Essential Job Functions
  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment in the pilot plant facility and annex.
  • Conduct electrical and instrumentation construction activities for projects in the pilot plant facility and annex.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and performance of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other technicians to support research and development projects by providing expertise on electrical and instrumentation requirements.
  • Respond promptly to equipment failures and emergencies to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of operations.
  • Document maintenance activities, equipment performance, and calibration records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety programs, hazard assessments, and incident investigations to promote a safe working environment.
  • Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and technological advancements related to electrical and instrumentation systems.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician in an industrial or laboratory setting, preferably in the chemical or process industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation principles, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and instrumentation drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with troubleshooting electrical circuits, PLCs, DCS systems, and instrumentation devices.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., NFPA 70E, NEC, ISA).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a Journeyman Electrician or Instrumentation Technician
  • Experience with hazardous area classifications and electrical hazard-rated equipment
  • Familiarity with chemical processing equipment and operations
  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance practices and predictive maintenance techniques
